How social media engage communicate

Social media is one of the most direct and effective ways to spread the word. Any social media can be used to send out text, or images. And anyone in the world can see it right away, without even taking the time to spread it. And I think, and believe, that most people don’t immediately deny unfamiliar news when they see it (unless it’s outrageous), which means that social media can spew out information like a volcanic eruption.

How social media challenges communication

As I said above, social media is spreading a lot of information outward like a volcanic eruption, which also means a serious problem: you don’t know if it’s true or not. People receive a lot of information every day and they are not very good at telling what is right or wrong. I think the biggest challenge of social media for communication is that it greatly increases the possibility of rumors.

Is it inclusive

My answer is that it is completely inclusive. Social media allows people all over the world to communicate on a common platform, and you can hide what makes you different from others if you want to. In the Internet, everyone is the same, no one notices that you are a disabled person, everyone is another user in the eyes of the Internet users, and everyone communicates normally. As the article says, they “high-five each other after class”.

Does PLN amplify the views of others

I think so. When another person’s point of view or opinion is valid and is evaluated or agreed by many people, then it spreads faster. Or if a very well-known social media user expresses an opinion, then it will spread very quickly.

  1. I couldn’t agree with you more. I think the advantage of social media is that people can post content anywhere, anytime, and can completely ignore the limitations imposed by geography when they have an Internet connection. On the other hand, I think the information and news on social media are not entirely authentic, and we need to have the ability to distinguish between right and wrong on social media.

    • I stand by my view that I still think most people choose to believe social media when they receive news that it is likely to happen, especially the elderly and children. What we need to exercise is to examine each message with a critical attitude instead of following our feelings to believe or deny.
